Faith that knows when to rest is something most of us struggle with, especially when life stays busy. There is always something else that needs our attention.

I can be completely worn down and still find myself adding one more thing to my day like it is somehow going to make me feel caught up. It never really works that way. There is always something else waiting, and before long, it starts to feel like we do not have permission to slow down unless everything is finished.

The problem is, everything is never finished.

If you stop and think about that, especially after everything Jesus carried and the way He chose the cross knowing exactly what was coming, it should change something in us. He already said, “it is finished,” and yet we still live like everything depends on us holding it all together.

Faith That Knows When to Rest Isn’t Weakness

Slowing down sounds good until you actually try to do it. The moment you pause, your mind keeps going. You start thinking about what still needs to be done and what might fall behind if you stop.

It is not that we do not need rest. It is that rest requires us to release control for a moment. That is definitely not something that comes naturally especially when you are used to handling everything.

There is a difference between being responsible and carrying more than you were ever meant to carry. If we are not careful, we blur that line without even realizing it.

Elijah and the Reminder We Miss

In 1 Kings 18 and 19, Elijah goes from a powerful moment of faith to complete exhaustion. After calling down fire from heaven and watching God move in a way that left no doubt, everything still caught up with him.
He ended up overwhelmed, worn down, and ready to quit.
And what matters most in that moment is not just where he was, but how God responded. There was no pressure to keep going and no frustration toward him for being tired.

God let him rest.
He provided what he needed, gave him space to recover, and only after that did He begin to guide what came next.

Why This Matters for Us

We often treat rest like something we earn after everything is finished, but that moment rarely comes. In the meantime, we push ourselves further than we should and wonder why we feel so drained. Rest is not quitting, and it is not falling behind. It’s trusting that God is still holding everything together even when we are not actively managing every detail.

If God made rest part of Elijah’s process, then it was never meant to be something we avoid or delay until we have nothing left to give.

Listen to Faith That Knows When to Rest

You can listen to the full episode of right here

Maybe you can relate, save it for later so you can come back to it when life starts feeling a little too full again.

Trusting God through change can feel uncomfortable when life starts shifting in ways you didn’t plan. This week’s episode is a real, honest conversation about faith, surrender, and learning to trust Him anyway.

Trusting God through change is one of those things that sounds simple until life actually starts changing and you realize quickly how much you liked the way things were.

Most of the time, it is not a huge change. It is subtle. Something just feels a bit different. A door does not open the way you expected. Something that once felt comfortable suddenly doesn’t anymore, and you are left sitting there trying to make sense of something that has not fully made sense yet.

And if you are anything like me, your first instinct is to start figuring it out instead of slowing down and trusting Him in it.

When things don’t line up like you thought they would

Here is what I am learning… not every change means something is wrong. Sometimes God is not fixing something, He is just moving things around a little bit.
And just because it feels uncertain to you does not mean it is uncertain to Him. He already sees what is ahead, even when you are still trying to understand what is right in front of you.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” — Isaiah 55:8–9

So if things feel a little off right now, maybe this isn’t the moment to try and force it back into what you thought it was supposed to be, maybe it’s just the moment where you take a breath and say, “Okay Lord… I trust You here too,” not because you understand it, but because you trust Him.

Listen to Trusting god through change here

Pin trusting god through change for later

Save this on your favorite board so you can come back to it any time you need to remind yourself that Trusting God through change isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about trusting Him when you don’t.

If you are trying to let go and trust God, but your mind keeps going back to the same thing, you already know how exhausting that is. You can be completely worn out and still laying there thinking about it, trying to fix it or make it turn out right.

At some point, it stops feeling like responsibility and starts feeling heavy. That is usually the moment you realize you have picked up something that was never yours to carry in the first place.

Let Go and Trust God When You Can’t Control the Outcome

There comes a time when you have done what you needed to do. You said what needed to be said or took the step you knew to take. What happens after that does not belong to you.

But we still go back to it in our thoughts. We keep checking on it and trying to manage the outcome. That is where the weight comes from, because we are trying to do our part and God’s part at the same time.

Let Go and Trust God and leave it

Sometimes we think we have let something go, but we have only shifted what we are holding. We are not holding the past anymore, we are holding how it is all going to turn out.

That is why it still feels heavy. Real trust is doing your part and leaving the rest alone, even when your mind keeps trying to go back and grab it again.

Listen to the Episode

And if you want to dig into the Scripture behind this a little more, you can read Proverbs 3:5–6 here: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+3%3A5-6&version=NLT

Faith over fear … sounds real good until you’re the one having to actually walk it out. Honestly, it’s easy to say you trust God when everything feels fine. It’s a whole different story when you know you need to take a step forward and your mind is already ten steps ahead telling you everything that could go wrong.

And if you’re sitting there thinking, “yep… that’s me right now,” then pull up a chair. You’re in the right place.

Listen to the Full Episode

If this is already hittin’ home, go ahead and listen to the full episode. This one’s more of a real life conversation than anything else.

Last week’s episode on forgiveness? Y’all… I wasn’t expecting it to hit the way it did, but it turned out to be one of those that really stuck with people. If you haven’t listened to that one yet, go back and catch it here: Forgiveness Is a Choice: Letting Go of the Weight.

Faith Over Fear in Real Life

Fear doesn’t usually show up when you’re doing nothing. It shows up when you decide you’re done staying stuck. That’s when your thoughts start spinning, and something that felt simple a minute ago suddenly feels heavy, complicated, and a whole lot riskier than you remembered.

But faith over fear isn’t about getting rid of that feeling. It’s about not letting it make your decisions. It’s choosing to move forward anyway, even if you’re still a little unsure, because you trust God more than you trust all those “what if” thoughts running through your head.

Faith Over Fear Isn’t About Feeling Ready

A lot of us are waiting to feel ready before we take a step, like confidence is supposed to show up first and then we move. But most of the time, it doesn’t work like that. You don’t suddenly feel fearless… you just decide you’re not staying where you are anymore.

And that step might be small. It might feel awkward. It might not look like much to anybody else. But it counts, because you moved.

A Little Reminder from Esther

Esther didn’t have it all figured out either. She knew what it could cost her, and she still chose to step forward anyway, not because she felt brave, but because she knew staying quiet wasn’t right. If you haven’t had the chance to read Esther’s story, make sure to check it out.

And I think that’s the part we need to remember. Faith over fear isn’t about confidence. It’s about being willing to do what you know you’re supposed to do, even when it feels uncomfortable.

You Don’t Have to Feel Brave

If there’s anything I want you to hold onto, it’s this… you don’t have to feel brave to move forward. That’s where faith over fear really comes in, because it’s not about confidence showing up first. It’s about being willing to take the next step, even when you can’t see how it’s all going to work out yet.

It looks like trusting God with what’s ahead instead of trying to control every outcome, and choosing to move forward anyway when fear starts getting loud and telling you to stay put. Because let’s be honest, fear is always going to have something to say… but it doesn’t get to be the one making your decisions anymore.

Pin faith over fear for Later

Before You Go…

Now listen… if you’re anything like me, sometimes after a good heart-to-heart like this, you need to go stand in the kitchen for a minute and decompress.
So before you head out, I’ve got a couple of recipes waiting for you that are easy, cozy, and perfect for those nights when you just want something simple and good:
👉 Easy Homemade Peach Cobbler
👉 Venison Broccoli Casserole
Because sometimes the next right step looks like trusting God… and sometimes it looks like putting something in the oven and taking a breath.

Some things in life sound simple until you’re the one living through them. Forgiveness is one of those things. People love to say “forgive and forget,” but anybody who has been truly hurt knows it’s not nearly that easy. Honestly, forgiveness is a choice most of us wrestle with long before we ever feel ready to make it.

This one does get a bit deep y’all.

In this episode of Unscripted Conversations, we’re having a real conversation about forgiveness, trust, and what it looks like to stop carrying the weight of something that happened in the past. Because forgiveness isn’t pretending it didn’t hurt. Sometimes it simply means deciding you’re done letting that hurt run your life.

Listen to forgiveness is a choice

Forgiveness Is a Choice

One of the biggest misunderstandings about forgiveness is thinking it means everything goes back to the way it was before. That’s not always how life works. Forgiveness is a choice, but trust takes time to rebuild, and sometimes boundaries are part of the healing process.

Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 4:23 to guard our hearts above everything else. Guarding your heart doesn’t mean closing yourself off from the world. It means learning how to walk forward with wisdom instead of bitterness.

Choosing to Let Go of the Weight

Holding on to resentment can feel like protection for a while, but eventually it becomes something heavy we carry everywhere we go. Forgiveness doesn’t erase what happened, and it doesn’t mean the hurt didn’t matter. It simply means you’re choosing peace instead of carrying that weight forever.

If you’ve ever struggled with forgiving someone who hurt you, you’re not alone. This episode is an honest conversation about faith, healing, and learning how to move forward one step at a time.

Pin It Forgiveness is a choice for later

Obedience before clarity is one of the hardest parts of faith. It’s that moment when you feel like God is nudging you toward something, but the explanation hasn’t shown up yet. You’re standing there with your coffee getting cold thinking, “Lord, I think I know what you’re asking… but I sure wish you’d explain it a little more first.”

Most of us don’t mind obedience once everything makes sense. If God handed us the whole blueprint ahead of time, we’d probably step out with a lot more confidence. But faith doesn’t usually work that way. More often than not, the Lord asks us to trust Him before the full picture comes into focus.

That’s exactly what we’re talking about in this week’s episode of Unscripted Conversations.

Listen to the Full Podcast Episode About Obedience Before Clarity

If you’d rather listen than read, you can catch the entire conversation here.

Why Obedience Before Clarity Feels So Hard

We naturally want explanations before we make decisions. We want to know how things will work out, what the outcome will be, and whether we’re about to make a mistake.

But when you look through Scripture, you’ll notice something interesting. God often gives direction before He gives explanation.

Noah built an ark before the rain ever came. Abraham walked up the mountain before he knew how God would provide. Mary said yes to carrying the Savior of the world before she understood how her life was about to change.

Their obedience didn’t come after clarity.
It came before it.

Obedience Before Clarity in the Story of Job

One of the most powerful examples of obedience before clarity is found in the story of Job.
Job didn’t understand why his life was falling apart. His friends were full of opinions and explanations about what God must be doing, but they were completely wrong about God’s heart.

Even in the middle of confusion, Job refused to let go of his trust in God.
Job 13:15 says, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”
If you’d like to read that verse in context, you can find it here: Read it here

That kind of faith isn’t built on explanations. It’s built on knowing God’s character.

What Obedience Before Clarity Looks Like in Everyday Life

Most of the time obedience before clarity doesn’t show up in dramatic moments. It shows up in the everyday decisions we make to trust God.

Sometimes it looks like taking a step even when you feel unsure. Sometimes it looks like staying faithful in a season that feels confusing or slow. And sometimes it simply means choosing to trust that God is still working even when you can’t see the full picture yet.

Faith doesn’t always come with a roadmap.
Sometimes it simply asks us to trust the One who does see the whole map.

Faith without a timeline sounds simple until you’re the one living in the middle of unanswered prayers, open-ended seasons, and situations that refuse to wrap up neatly.

Most of us don’t struggle with trusting God. We struggle with wanting a date. A rough estimate. Something that tells us how long we’re supposed to sit in the waiting before things finally change.

We say we trust God, but if we’re honest, we still want to know when and how. And a lot of the stress we carry doesn’t come from the situation itself. It comes from not knowing how long it’s going to last.

That’s usually where “let go and let God” gets harder than it sounds.Listen to the Full Episode

Listen to the Full Episode

This post pairs with Season 3, Episode 8 of Unscripted Conversations, where I talk more about letting go of timelines and learning to trust God without dates or deadlines.
You can listen to the full episode above or wherever you get your podcasts.

When Faith Wants a Deadline

Without realizing it, we create timelines in our heads.

Once this happens, then I’ll relax.
Or, once this gets figured out, then I’ll have peace.
Even, once God answers this, then life can move forward.

The problem is that tying peace to a future moment puts life on hold. Faith starts counting down instead of showing up. Today becomes something to get through instead of something to live.

Faith without a timeline asks us to let go and let God without needing guarantees first.

Letting Go Without Putting Life on Pause

Scripture reminds us that planning isn’t wrong, but planning without surrender is fragile. We don’t actually know what tomorrow holds, and God never promised to give us a schedule.

There are seasons when faith looks like continuing to live well even when things aren’t resolved yet. Enjoying your days. Loving the people around you. Staying present instead of constantly waiting for permission to relax.

Letting go doesn’t mean you stop caring.
Letting go means you stop demanding answers on your timeline.

For additional Scripture on trusting God with the unknown, you can explore James 4 on Bible Gateway HERE.

Faith Without a Timeline Is Still Faith

Faith without a timeline isn’t passive or careless. It’s steady. It’s intentional. It’s trusting God even when He doesn’t explain Himself.

You don’t have to know when or how in order to live faithfully today. You don’t have to put your joy on hold until everything makes sense.

Sometimes “let go and let God” simply means staying present, staying faithful, and trusting Him with what you can’t schedule.

Pin Faith without a timeline for later

Learning to let go and let God without waiting for guarantees.

Faith when God feels quiet can leave you wondering if anything is actually moving forward. This is a steady, honest look at obedience, patience, and trusting God when nothing feels urgent or clear.

Faith when God feels quiet can be one of the hardest seasons to walk through, not because life is falling apart, but because nothing seems to be changing.

You’re still doing what you know to do. You’re still praying, still showing up, still trying to make wise choices. But if you’re honest, there’s a quiet question sitting in the back of your mind wondering if any of it is actually moving you forward or if you’re just standing still while life keeps going.

That quiet place can mess with you more than a storm ever could. When things are loud and hard, you know how to pray and what you’re facing. But when faith feels quiet and there’s no clear next step, doubt doesn’t come crashing in. It sneaks in slowly and starts making you second-guess things you once felt confident about.

The Quiet Part Nobody Talks About

This is usually where unnecessary pressure shows up. You start replaying decisions, questioning timing, and wondering if you should be doing more. Obedience begins to feel repetitive instead of purposeful, and because nothing feels finished, it’s easy to assume something must be wrong.

We live in a world that celebrates visible progress and quick results, so when faith doesn’t feel productive, it can leave you feeling behind. But obedience doesn’t lose its value just because it feels ordinary. Some of the most important growth happens in seasons that don’t look impressive from the outside.

Faith When God Feels Quiet & the Wisdom of Waiting

Scripture never treats waiting like wasted time. It treats it like formation.

Habakkuk 2:3 reminds us that the vision has an appointed time. Even when it lingers, it isn’t late. That word linger matters, because lingering doesn’t mean forgotten or delayed. It simply means the timing isn’t ours to manage.

God often does His deepest work in the middle, not at the beginning or the end. Those quiet seasons shape patience, steadiness, and trust in ways that fast movement never could.

The Difference Between Urgency and Obedience

Faith when God feels quiet has a way of exposing the difference between urgency and obedience. Urgency pushes us to force movement just so we don’t have to sit in the unknown. It feels productive, responsible, and even wise if you’re not paying attention.

Obedience doesn’t rush. It listens first and it waits when it’s not time to move. It trusts without demanding clarity.

Urgency creates anxiety. Obedience creates peace. Not because everything is figured out, but because you’re not trying to control the outcome.

Why Steady Faith Still Matters

Faith that keeps moving isn’t flashy or dramatic. It’s steady. It shows up in ordinary days, consistent choices, and quiet faithfulness that doesn’t get much attention. Those seasons are often doing more in you than you realize, grounding you for whatever comes next.

You don’t have to hurry your faith. You don’t have to force the next step. Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is keep showing up and trust that God is still working, even when it feels quiet.

Listen to faith when God feels quiet Podcast

Walking in wisdom isn’t about reaching perfection or checking off Proverbs 31 like a to-do list. It’s about learning to trust God one steady step at a time, even when the road ahead feels unclear. In this episode of Unscripted Conversations, we talk about Peter stepping out of the boat, everyday faithfulness, and how wisdom grows quietly over time.

Walking in wisdom isn’t about finally getting everything right. It isn’t about mastering Proverbs 31 or turning your faith into a checklist. It’s about choosing steady trust over pressure and learning to take the next faithful step in front of you.

Over the last few weeks in our Proverbs 31 series on Unscripted Conversations, we’ve been peeling back layers of pressure that so many women have quietly been carrying. We talked about how that chapter was never meant to be read like a checklist or a performance standard, and we slowly began to see it for what it really is — the fruit of a life shaped by wisdom over time.

And once that pressure starts to lift, something interesting happens. You’re no longer striving to measure up, but you’re still standing there asking, “Okay, Lord… what does this actually look like in real life?”
That question is where this episode lives.

Walking in Wisdom Is a Journey, Not a Destination

When we talk about walking in wisdom, we have to understand that Scripture consistently describes faith as a walk. Not a sprint. Not an arrival. A walk.
Walking implies movement, but it also implies pace. It suggests that growth happens gradually, that direction matters more than speed, and that you don’t have to see ten steps ahead in order to move forward. You simply have to take the next one.

That perspective changes how we read Proverbs 31. Instead of seeing a woman who somehow mastered every area of life at once, we begin to see the steady outcome of someone who walked with God long enough for wisdom to take root. Her strength didn’t appear overnight. Her confidence wasn’t loud or rushed. It was formed quietly, through seasons of responsibility, discernment, and trust.

If your faith feels ordinary right now, that doesn’t mean it’s weak. It likely means you’re in the middle of the process where wisdom is forming. And that formation almost always feels slower than we expect it to.
God is not in a hurry with you. He is interested in depth, not speed.

Walking in Wisdom and Peter’s Step Out of the Boat

One of the clearest pictures of walking in wisdom that came to mind during this episode was Peter stepping out of the boat. We often focus on the moment he began to sink, but before that happened, he actually walked on water.
Jesus gave him a simple invitation: “Come.”

There were no detailed instructions and no guarantees that the wind would calm down first. There was simply a call to move toward Him. Peter stepped out not because he felt fearless, but because he trusted who was calling him.

That is what walking in wisdom often looks like in real life. It means responding to God’s direction before you feel fully confident. It means choosing obedience even when your emotions lag behind your faith. And when fear does show up, it doesn’t mean you stepped wrong. It means you’re doing something that requires trust.

What stands out most in Peter’s story is not the sinking, but the proximity. Even when his confidence wavered, Jesus was close enough to reach him immediately. That same closeness is what sustains us when we are learning to walk in wisdom ourselves.

Wisdom is not the absence of fear. It is the willingness to keep moving toward God despite it.

What Walking in Wisdom Looks Like in Everyday Life

In practical terms, walking in wisdom often feels much less dramatic than we expect. It shows up in small decisions made thoughtfully rather than impulsively. It appears when we choose trust over control, patience over urgency, and faithfulness over applause.

It’s found in ordinary spaces — in conversations, in responsibilities, in routines that don’t feel particularly spiritual but are deeply formative. The Proverbs 31 woman wasn’t impressive because she controlled everything; she was steady because she was anchored.

Confidence grows during the walk, not before it. The more consistently we move toward God, the less pressure we feel to prove ourselves to anyone else. Walking in wisdom reshapes how we see success, influence, and even our own growth.

And perhaps the most freeing truth of all is this: you do not become wise by trying harder. You become wise by staying close.

Faith beyond the door can feel heavy sometimes—especially when you’re working hard and still wondering if any of it really mattered.
Not lazy tired.
Not “I didn’t do enough” tired.
But the kind of tired that comes from our responsibilities, being there for people, and doing the work that doesn’t always get noticed.
In this episode of Unscripted Conversations, we’re continuing the Faith in Motion series and walking slowly through Proverbs 31—not as a checklist, but as wisdom that unfolds over time.
Today, we’re talking about what it looks like to live out faith beyond the door—in our work, our responsibilities, and the places God already has us planted.

When Faith Meets Everyday Work

As Proverbs 31 moves into verses 16–20, we don’t see a new woman—we see the same wisdom showing up in a different place.
She considers a field.
And thinks before she acts.
She works hard, but she isn’t frantic.
That word considers matters. She isn’t rushing into every opportunity just because it’s available. She’s moving with discernment, not pressure.
And that’s important, because the world we live in rewards urgency. But Proverbs 31 doesn’t praise hustle—it praises wisdom.

Faith Beyond the Door: Purpose Without Burnout

This woman works faithfully, but she isn’t scattered. Her work isn’t about proving herself; it’s about stewardship.
God never asked us to burn ourselves out to be faithful. Purpose doesn’t have to feel heavy, and calling doesn’t have to come with constant pressure.
Faithfulness isn’t about doing everything—it’s about doing what’s yours with wisdom and peace.

Lydia and Quiet Influence

This is where Lydia’s story in Acts 16 fits so beautifully.
Lydia was a seller of purple goods—real work, real responsibility. Scripture doesn’t highlight her hustle; it shows her faithfulness.
God met her right in the middle of her everyday life. Her work, her home, and her faith were already woven together. She didn’t chase influence—she lived faithfully, and influence followed.

Faith Beyond the Door: Living Faith Beyond the Door

Faith beyond the door isn’t louder or faster.
It’s lived.
It looks like wisdom in how we work, steadiness in how we live, and peace that comes from knowing who we belong to.
If you’ve been tired in places you couldn’t quite name, I hope this episode feels like permission—to slow down and trust that God is doing more with your faithfulness than you can see.
