Why I Started SimplyBlessedDesignz

I often get the question, Why? Why did you start making things and especially how did you decide to do it live? Well my “why” is my family. Just like so many others, I was trying to live a comfortable life and make sure the bills were paid. I also wanted food on the table for my family. Somewhere along the way, I began wondering if I could make things myself. I saw a cute piece of decor and I wanted it BUT I couldn’t pay the price tag that was on it, so I began to discover ways that I could make it or something similar using items that I had found at thrift stores and yard sales, found in my garage or other places I had “piles” of “things” (IYKYK), or even items found in various inexpensive stores.

Then I wondered if anyone else wanted these same ideas. I scrolled through social media and found two awesome DIY crafters I enjoyed watching, and one was creating through videos, while the other was creating live. The person I was watching live used these awesome transfers. They made adding wording and pictures to projects look so easy. I had to have them so I immediately clicked her link, looked around the site, and became a designer with Chalk Couture.

When I received my box I sat it on the “craft table” I had constructed for around 4-6 months. Finally, opened it one day and I loved what I found. I began using those products immediately and then gathered up the courage and started making videos of the different items I had created. They were doing well and people seemed to enjoy watching them. This gave me the courage, little by little, to hit that live button and here we are.

When I first started, I told Sam I just wanted to be able to reach ONE person. I want to show them that it is OK to make your own items. It is OK for it not to be perfect every time and it is OK to mess up and get so frustrated you want to chunk it out the window. (I have honestly thrown 3 pieces out the back door since I have started! I call that a “win” and will make sure I update this number if it is to change in the future. HAHA) When I made my Dollar Tree Wagon out of 3 canvas frames, tumbling tower blocks, and wood rounds, my little crafting page took off. Immediately hit my knees and thanked God because HE was who I had to thank for the blessings that came after that.

What I Hope You Take With You

I hope this gives you a little insight into my “WHY.” More importantly, I hope it gives you the COURAGE to believe in yourself. I want you to have the FAITH to go after what God has placed on your heart. “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13. Now, go design the life you LOVE!!
