God Uses Brokenness: When Cracks Are Part of the Calling

Let’s be real — sometimes we feel too busted to be used by God. Too tired, too overlooked, too behind, too all-over-the-place. But friend, God uses brokenness. He’s not looking for perfect people — He’s looking for surrendered hearts. And if that’s you, with all your half-finished projects and crispy arborvitae (bless it), you’re in good company.

When Life Feels Like One Big Hot Mess

Ever look around and think, “Welp. This is not what I pictured.” Maybe you’ve got piles of unfolded laundry, dreams that feel stuck in neutral, and a heart that’s been through the wringer. It’s tempting to believe those cracks disqualify you — but what if they’re actually what makes you usable?

God Uses Brokenness Right in the Middle of the Mess

I’ve learned (usually the hard way) that God doesn’t wait for us to “get it together.” He meets us in the middle of the mud — in the grief, the confusion, the not-quite-there-yet. And sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is keep showing up. Cracks and all.

God uses brokenness: What If the Light Shines Best Through the Cracks?

Maybe the places that feel the most broken are the ones God’s trying to use. Maybe the parts of your story you’d rather fast-forward are where someone else sees His grace the clearest. We don’t need to hide the mess. We just need to hand it over.

And hey — if you’re looking for a way to start seeing that grace in the everyday, here’s a little challenge I shared in the episode:
Read one verse from Proverbs every day.
Just one. Let it sit with you. Ask God to show you how to live it out in real life — while folding laundry, stirring supper, or trying not to lose your sanctification in the school pickup line. (So glad I am out of that, but I still hear horror stories) You’ll be amazed what He reveals when you make room for wisdom to take root.
