Welcome to the first post in my chronological Bible devotional series — where I’ll be sharing honest reflections, scripture-based encouragement, and what God’s teaching me as I read through the Bible in the order it actually happened.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1 (NLT)

Let’s just sit with that for a minute.
In the beginning, God created.
Not tried or stumbled into it. Not threw some stuff together on a whim.
He created — on purpose. With beauty, order, and authority.
That alone settles a lot of what we wrestle with, doesn’t it?
If He could speak light into a dark void, He can absolutely speak peace into whatever mess you’re walking through today.

What I’m Learning in This Chronological Bible Devotional

Reading through Genesis in this chronological Bible devotional has hit different this time.
From the garden to the flood, and Babel to the promise, one truth keeps rising to the top:
God is a God of beginnings — even when we mess it up.
Adam and Eve broke trust.
Cain took a life.
People ignored God.
And yet… God still showed up.
He didn’t abandon them after the fall. Instead, He covered their shame (Genesis 3:21).
He didn’t forget Noah in the flood. God remembered him and made a way forward (Genesis 8:1).
And when the world was messy and full of idols, He still made a promise to a childless, unlikely man named Abram (Genesis 12:2).
It’s this thread of mercy that weaves through every failure — and it still does today.

When Life Feels Messy

Let’s be honest — sometimes we’re not walking through a garden… we’re crawling out of our own mess.
Maybe you’re in that place.
Maybe you’re carrying the weight of a wrong turn or a broken place.
Can I remind you?
God doesn’t cancel His plans because of our failures.
He takes dust and turns it into life.
God takes shame and replaces it with purpose.
He sees your beginning and your becoming.

Pray With Me:

Father, thank You for being the God of fresh starts.
When I feel like my story is too messy, too far gone, or too off track — remind me that You’re not done.
You specialize in new beginnings.
Teach me to trust Your timeline, Your promises, and Your heart.
Amen.

Scripture for the Week

“So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.” — Genesis 6:6 (NLT)
That verse stopped me in my tracks.
God grieves.
And yet, He still rescues.
Noah didn’t have it all together. But he walked in obedience.
And God remembered him.
