Making Space for Him in the Messy Middle

Making space for Him isn’t usually hard in the quiet moments — that early-morning coffee with your Bible open or that nighttime “Lord, thank You for getting us through.” Those parts feel natural. It’s that messy middle that tries to take us out. The part of the day where the planner is full, the phone won’t stop buzzing, supper is halfway figured out, and life is happening faster than we can color-code it. That’s the space I forget to invite Him into, and honestly… it’s the space I need Him the absolute most.
Somewhere between breakfast and bedtime, the day starts running ahead of me. And if Jesus sat down beside me around lunchtime, He’d probably give me that gentle head tilt like, “Girl… what happened this morning?” And I’d just shrug: “Life, Lord. It’s just life.” But the truth is — He’s not waiting on my day to quiet down. He just wants room right in the middle of the swirl.
And the part that hit me this week: the middle of the day is usually where my attitude shows itself. That’s where impatience creeps in, where overwhelm hits fast, and where I start leaning on my own strength without even realizing it. Those are exactly the moments where making space for Him changes everything — not because the chaos disappears, but because I’m not carrying it alone. Even a two-second “Lord, stay close” can completely take the weight off my shoulders.
This episode is your reminder that making space for Him doesn’t require perfection. It doesn’t have to look like a long devotion or a beautifully lit moment. Sometimes it’s as simple as a breath… a whisper… a “Lord, be here with me,” even while the world around you is doing the absolute most.
