Unscripted Conversations – Season 2 Episode 7
Podcast Host: Ashley Finch | SimplyBlessedDesignz
Why we’re talking about peace in the chaos
If your life looks anything like mine, it’s probably a swirl of cluttered counters, phone notifications dinging every two seconds, supper on the stove, a dog barking at absolutely nothing, and your brain running down rabbit trails of “what ifs.”
If you’ve been longing for peace in the chaos of your messy, busy, beautifully imperfect life — you’re in the right spot.
We’ve all thought it…
“Life will finally calm down after we finish this house project…”
“…or when the kids move out…”
“…maybe after the wedding and that big Alaska honeymoon…”
“…or once we finally pay off that last bill.”
But friend, it never really does.
That’s why this episode of Unscripted Conversations is so close to my heart.
Because finding peace in the chaos has absolutely nothing to do with life getting easier — and everything to do with Jesus meeting you right where you are.
Scriptures that keep me anchored with peace in the chaos
In this episode, I share the scriptures that have carried me through my messiest, most overwhelming seasons:
- John 14:27 — Jesus said His peace is a gift the world can’t give or take.
- Joshua 1:9 — God calls us to be strong and courageous, not because we’re tough, but because He’s with us wherever we go.
- Philippians 4:13 — literally tattooed on my arm, reminding me daily that I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength.
- Isaiah 26:3 — a promise of perfect peace when we keep our minds fixed on Him.
- Psalm 46:10 — the gentle but powerful “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Real life examples — chaos included
This isn’t some polished, fluffy podcast.
It’s raw and honest, packed with my ADHD tangents, messy stories about junk drawers exploding, supper burning because I got distracted, and all the reminders that my husband literally handles crime scenes for work — then comes home to a domestic one.
But underneath all that chaos, there’s hope, grace, and the steady truth that God is smack in the middle of it.

A prayer for your heart
Lord, thank You for stepping right into our cluttered kitchens, half-folded laundry piles, and worried thoughts. Thank You for giving us a peace this world simply can’t. Help us keep our eyes fixed on You. Be our calm in the chaos.

Hi Ashley. its taking me a lot of time that probably shouldnt have to find gods peace. i can relate to everything you said. when i was younger it was, if i can loose weight i will find my perfect man. or be able to be happier, or will have more courage to stand up for myself. when i finally decided i had enough and asked god into my life again i found my husband through the chaos of working, not able to make ends meet, and on and on. thank you for all you do with the podcasts.
Oh friend, thank you so much for sharing this. I just wanna reach through this screen and give you the biggest hug. 🤍
Isn’t it wild how we spend so much time chasing that “if I just _____ then I’ll finally be happy” story? And then God shows up in the absolute mess of it all — right where we least expect it.
I love how He met you there, even when everything felt chaotic and upside down. That’s such a beautiful testimony of His goodness.
Thank you for being here and for trusting me with a piece of your heart. It means the world. I’m so glad these podcasts have spoken to you — I promise we’re all figuring this out together, one step (and one imperfect day) at a time. XOXO
Hi Ashley, I love season 2 episode 7 . it really spoke to me be my husband passed away on June 14th (we would have been married 40 years this coming September)and Iam complete chaos. I’m having a rough time these days I am a Christian and are now understanding the bible readings at church.
I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband. I can’t even begin to image how hard that is. I hope you lean on God because he has you friend. So many hugs and prayers to you.
