Rebekah at the well: When God lines it up before you even finish praying

Rebekah at the well in Genesis 24 is one of my favorite moments — it shows how God lines things up before we even finish praying. Abraham sends his servant to find a wife for Isaac, and bless his heart, the servant prays a big, specific prayer. “Lord, let the girl who offers water to me and my camels be the one you’ve chosen.”
And before he even finishes, here comes Rebekah. Pretty, strong, lugging that water jar like it’s nothing. She offers him a drink and then says, “Let me water your camels too.”
Y’all, that was no small task. That was gallons upon gallons. Rebekah wasn’t just kind — she was tough, generous, and willing to jump in before anyone even asked.

Rebekah at the well Bible story about trusting God’s plan without all the details

When you’re willing to say yes without seeing the whole plan

Rebekah didn’t just pour water. When she found out the servant’s mission, she said yes. Packed up her life, left her family, and rode off to marry a man she’d never met.
Can you imagine?
Most of us are like, “Umm God, can I get a bio, a family tree, maybe some engagement photos first?”
But she trusted. She said yes without knowing all the details. And because of that, she walked right into God’s promise — the family line that would eventually bring Jesus into the world.

What does this mean for us?

I think about how many times I’ve stood at my own “well”, praying for God to show up, when He already had the answer on its way. Or how often He’s nudged me to step out without a color-coded plan (yes, my calendar is color coded), and I hesitated because it wasn’t all spelled out.
Sometimes the biggest faith move is simply saying, “Yes Lord, I’ll go,” even when you’re still wiping camel dust off your face.

Lean in, sweet friend

So what’s God asking you to trust Him with right now?
Where might He already have your Rebekah moment lined up, ready to pour out more than you even prayed for?
Lean in. Say yes. You never know how your simple obedience might become the doorway to a much bigger story.
